Commenting on the publication of the National Patient Access Survey showing that around 90 per cent of patients are happy with access standards to their GPs, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
"It is encouraging that most patients feel they have good access to their GPs.
"That said, however, I believe that practice performance should be measured on actual service indicators, not on assumptions based on the results of a questionnaire.
"Without lessening the pressure to improve patient access further, the Health Secretary must review the system by which access to GPs is measured in order to ensure that GPs are being assessed fairly."
