Commenting after the First Minister's live interview on BBC Reporting Scotland this evening after the Scottish Government's Budget was voted down, Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland said:

"It was very sad to hear the rather bombastic statements from Alex Salmond.

"His misjudgement has caused this crisis.

"John Swinney has indicated that he will put partisan points to one side and work constructively with other parties.

"The First Minister needs to do the same."
